Kendall has arrived!

Not earth shattering news since she arrived three weeks ago, and we've already spoken to all of our family and friends. I meant to write about her arrival sooner, but having a newborn around the house has been quite an adjustment. It also hasn't been the easiest transition since she and I have been battling a number of ailments - mastitis for me, and jaundice and reflux for the baby. The mastitis and jaundice have passed, but we're still working on the reflux. The doctor now seems to think that she may also have a sensitivity to dairy products, so I'm cutting them out of my diet for the next two weeks and we'll see how it goes.

Enough about that, I wanted to share some quick details and photos from Miss Kendall Mei's birthday...I was scheduled to have a C-Section on January 11th, but ended going into labor the night of January 5th. I had been having contractions for about a week and just knew that I wasn't going to make it to the 11th. At first, the pain wasn't too bad, but my doctor sent me to L&D around 10:30 pm to be checked. After 3 hours of observation, the pain was getting worse, but the doctors decided to send me home. I was given some medicine that was supposed to relax me and ease the pain, with the hope that I would make it to the scheduled date since I was only in "early labor" with contractions that were all over the place in frequency and intensity. Unfortunately for me, the medicine didn't do a darn thing and I spent the remaining part of the night in more and more agony. The pain got worse and worse, and the contractions got closer together. I tried to ride it out as long as I could, and even managed to get an hour of sleep, but at 8 in the morning as Dan was getting ready to leave for work, I told him he probably shouldn't go, and that I felt it was time to go back to the hospital. I was in active labor when we got there and it was decided that they'd do the C-Section that day at 1 pm. At 1:27, Kendall was born. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 10 ounces, and was 20 1/2 inches long:

Fast forward three weeks, and here we are still trying to settle in. I'm tired, behind on my phone calls and thank you notes, and the laundry is piling up. I wouldn't change any of it though.
